Terms & Conditions

Last updated Document terms

This is a provisional draft.

This text has not yet been through legal review. It describes how we intend to operate and is published early so you can read it before you buy — but do not treat it as final or as legal advice. Ask us at support@gplreal.com if any of it matters to a decision you are about to make.

1. Who we are

GPLReal provides a distribution, verification and support service for GPL-licensed WordPress plugins and themes. [Operator legal name, registered address and company number to be inserted before launch.]

2. What the service is

We source, verify, scan, host and document releases, and we support you in using them. We do not license the software to you — the GPL does that, and it costs you nothing. Our GPL notice explains this in full and forms part of these terms.

3. Your account

One account is for one person or one organisation. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for everything done under your account. Sharing an account, reselling access to it, or distributing your download links is a breach of these terms and we may suspend the account for it.

We may suspend an account where we detect credential sharing, automated scraping of the catalogue, or download volumes inconsistent with normal use.

4. Purchases and memberships

  • Prices are shown before you pay and include any tax we are obliged to collect.
  • A single purchase gives you the current release, plus updates for the period stated on the product page. A lifetime-updates option is offered at checkout.
  • A membership gives you catalogue access up to a stated number of downloads per day, for as long as it is active. Limits reset daily.
  • Recurring memberships renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period.
  • Downloading is subject to fair use. We may rate-limit or refuse requests that look automated.

5. Refunds

Our refund policy forms part of these terms.

6. What we do not warrant

The software is provided by its original authors without warranty, and the GPL disclaims warranty in terms we cannot override. We warrant only our own service: that the archive we give you is the one we describe, unmodified, and scanned. We do not warrant that any product is fit for your purpose, compatible with your site, or free of defects.

Always take a backup before installing anything.

7. Liability

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use the service to distribute malware, to infringe anyone's rights, to attack our infrastructure, or to scrape the catalogue.

9. Changes

We may change these terms. Material changes are announced on the site and by email to members, and take effect no sooner than 14 days after notice. The version you agreed to at checkout is recorded with your order.

10. Law

[Governing law and venue to be confirmed with counsel before launch, together with the consumer-law carve-outs for your target markets.]

If anything here is unclear, or you think it is wrong, tell us — a policy nobody can follow is not doing its job.
